For the past two years, we've been hard at work educating and engaging young people about the law and local government, advocating for themselves and their communities, and collaborating with other youth and community organizations to build a more just and equittable Montgomery County, MD.

Our democracy and our communities depend on knowledgable and confident leaders to take an active interest in the affairs of our government, support the dissemination of information, and help others develop informed opinions about how our government should act, and support and elect representatives who can and will uphold our best interests.
Young People for Progress' Organizing Academy will develop future leaders in Montgomery County, MD. by empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities required to become leaders and active participants in civic life.
Civc education, confident leadership, and strong communities go hand in hand. Organizing Academy participants will engage with their communities to identity, discuss, and solve community problems.
Leaders are made, not born. Every Organizing Academy participant will have opportunities to build leadership skills and receive mentorship from a trusted advisor.
Building leaders today for tomorrow. Organizing Academy participants will receive leadership development and project management skills necessary to achieve their goals beyond the academy.
