When you make a donation you may choose to receive complimentary seeds  or a Live Flowering Perennial Plant (while supplies last)  per donation amount as a thank you for your contribution. Seeds must be picked up from the in-person fundraising sites on April 4th. See locations

For the past two years, we've been hard at work educating and engaging young people about the law and local government, advocating for themselves and their communities, and collaborating with other youth and community organizations to build a more just and equittable Montgomery County, MD.

Active participation in civic life is essential to strengthening and sustaining our communities and maintaining democracy. and declining civic knowledge, confidence in leadership, and polarization hurt us all. Our democracy and our communities depend on knowledgable and confident leaders to take an active interest in the affairs of our government, support the dissemination of information, and help others develop informed opinions about how our government should act, and support and elect  representatives who can and will uphold our best interests.


Young People for Progress' Organizing Academy will develop future leaders in Montgomery County, MD. by empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities required to become leaders and active participants in civic life. 

The Leadership Academy will...

Stronger Communities

Civc education, confident leadership, and strong communities go hand in hand. Organizing Academy participants will engage with their communities to identity, discuss, and solve community problems.

Mentorship

Leaders are made, not born. Every Organizing Academy participant will have opportunities to build leadership skills and receive mentorship from a trusted advisor.

Impact

Building leaders today for tomorrow. Organizing Academy participants will receive leadership development and project management skills necessary to achieve their goals beyond the academy.
