Jordy Diaz was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland. He graduated from Towson University in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and minors in Human Rights and History. Jordy began organizing at Towson University, where he developed a passion for advocacy and public service. He joined Young People for Progress (YPP) in 2024 and is excited to build power among youth and young adults to advance racial, economic, and gender justice in Montgomery County.
Before joining YPP, Jordy worked as a Legislative Advocacy Intern at the Immigration Hub within the Emerson Collective, advocating for immigrant rights and conducting policy research. He also served as Political Director for the College Democrats of Maryland, where he led advocacy campaigns and helped pass both the Student and Military Voter Empowerment Act and the Hunger Free Campus Grant Program. His efforts have significantly increased civic participation and supported students in need across Maryland.
Jordy is passionate about social justice and exploring the history of marginalized communities. In his free time, he enjoys Olympic weightlifting, reading, and learning about the rich history of underrepresented communities.
